Biography
Sophia received her Master of Music (Performance Teaching) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne, and her Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons.) from UCSI University as a scholarship recipient, majoring in classical cello and minoring in classical voice. Her broad interest in different musical styles and genres, along with her pursuit of versatility, led her to complete a Grade 8 Rockschool Popular Vocals exam with distinction, earning the prestigious Rockstar Award in 2016.
Hailing from Penang, the Pearl of the Orient, Sophia has been actively performing in Kuala Lumpur since 2012. Some of her highlights include being the lead vocalist of the former jazz-pop fusion band, SKAZZ, and the cellist of Strings Attached Quartet. During her time in Melbourne, she also performed at the National Gallery of Victoria with the jazz vocal-piano duo, Aurore Duet, and was both the cellist and vocalist of the jazz octet, BLEUM.
Sophia is a highly sought-after teacher, specializing in high-grade students at Tutti, from Grade 5 up to diploma level. She is known for her refined etiquette, professional communication, and serious approach to teaching. Many of her students have gone on to build successful careers in the music industry, a testament to her expertise and dedication. Sophia believes that music education is for everyone but holds her students to high standards, ensuring they are well-prepared for the professional music world.
